The four factors
Every program gets a 0–10 on each of four factors, scored from the real, sourced data we collect — starting price, medications, visit type, support, availability and track record. The overall score is the weighted average below.
| Factor | Weight | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| Value | 15% | What you get for the price — not just the lowest sticker. A premium program that includes FDA-approved medication, insurance help and real support can be good value. |
| Support | 30% | Real clinician access, coaching and follow-up — video visits and a care team score higher than async-only. |
| Medications | 25% | Medication options and legitimacy — FDA-approved branded (Wegovy, Zepbound) rates above compounded-only, and breadth and flexibility add points. |
| Transparency | 30% | How clearly and publicly pricing, terms and availability are stated — plus track record and any regulatory red flags. |
Why we weight it this way
These are prescription medications, not a subscription box. So we deliberately weight support and transparency — real clinician access and a clear, honest, well-established operation — above the raw sticker price. The cheapest program isn't automatically the best: a rock-bottom compounded plan with thin oversight can score below a pricier, FDA-approved, well-supported one. We also credit FDA-approved branded medication over compounded-only, because it carries approval and consistency that compounding does not.
How we keep it independent
We're reader-supported: when you sign up through our links we may earn a commission. That funds the site, but it does not buy a better score or a higher ranking. Commissions do not factor into our scoring at all — a program we earn nothing from can outrank one we do, and sometimes does.
About the prices
Every price on the site is a real, dated figure with a source — the lowest advertised starting rate as of the date shown. Many programs quote those rates only on a prepaid multi-month or promotional plan, and membership programs bill medication separately, so month-to-month and maintenance-dose costs run higher. We say so, and we tell you to confirm the current number at the provider before you buy.
What we don't do
- We don't give medical advice or compare the clinical efficacy of medications.
- We don't publish fabricated prices or invent facts about a provider.
- We don't let a commission change a score. Ever.
